As we move into 2026, the AI conversation feels very different from where it was even two years ago. What once revolved around curiosity and experimentation has become a discussion about capacity, economics, and long-term advantage.
AI is no longer something companies “try.” It’s something they must architect deliberately.
The Center of Gravity Has Shifted
In the early days of generative AI, attention naturally gravitated toward models. OpenAI’s early work - from GPT-1 through GPT-5 - marked an inflection point, quickly followed by alternatives from Meta (Llama) and Anthropic (Claude).
Each iteration brought better reasoning, stronger outputs, and broader adoption.
But by 2024 and 2025, the market began to signal something important: the bottleneck is no longer intelligence - it is infrastructure.
Today, NVIDIA sits at the center of this shift. Earnings from chip manufacturers, once considered background noise compared to SaaS giants, now drive market sentiment.
The same is true for energy providers, data center operators, and fiber owners. AI growth depends on compute, and compute depends on physical assets.
This has fundamentally changed how value is distributed across the stack.
Infrastructure Is No Longer Invisible
For years, infrastructure players traded like utilities - predictable, stable, unexciting. That assumption no longer holds.

One of the most striking aspects of AI’s evolution is how quickly improvements compound.
A well-known example illustrates this clearly. Less than two years ago, AI-generated video struggled with basic realism. Outputs were distorted and unusable. Fast forward eighteen months, and the same prompts now produce near-photorealistic results.
This kind of progress doesn’t happen linearly. It accelerates as data, compute, and training efficiency converge.
The same acceleration is now appearing in robotics. Companies like 1X Technologies are beginning to deploy early humanoid systems into controlled environments. While still early, this represents a shift from digital intelligence to embodied execution.
If figures like Elon Musk are correct, and humanoids represent one of the largest future markets, then today’s experiments are simply laying groundwork.
Agentic AI Is Where Productivity Actually Changes
Between 2024 and 2025, one of the most meaningful developments wasn’t just better models - it was better orchestration.
Agentic AI systems are changing how work gets done by coordinating tasks across tools, rather than answering isolated questions. For anyone involved in market analysis, research, or strategic planning, this matters far more than marginal improvements in accuracy.

One of the shifts I’m watching closely as we head into 2026 is how quickly AI is being pulled out of experimentation and into real operating environments.
In the early stages, it’s easy to tolerate inefficiency. Teams accept higher costs, slower performance, or redundant workflows because the upside feels transformational. But once AI becomes embedded in customer-facing processes, sales workflows, product operations, or internal decision-making, tolerance drops quickly.
Enterprise buyers don’t fund novelty - they fund reliability.
We’re already seeing this in how vendors are being evaluated:
It’s no longer enough to demonstrate what an AI system can do.
The conversation has moved to how it’s deployed, how it’s governed, and how it behaves at scale. Questions around latency, reliability, predictability, and integration into existing systems now matter just as much as output quality.
This is where many AI solutions will struggle - not because they lack capability, but because they were never designed to operate inside real enterprise constraints.
The next phase of AI adoption will reward platforms that can function as part of a broader operating model, not just as impressive standalone tools.
Enterprise AI Will Rise Through Governance, Not Autonomy
In enterprise environments, progress is rarely about removing humans entirely from the equation. It’s about clearly defining where human judgment is required - and where it isn’t.In practice, most organizations aren’t asking for full autonomy. They’re asking for confidence.
Confidence that outputs are explainable.
Confidence that decisions can be audited.
Confidence that responsibility is clear when something goes wrong.
This is why, across enterprise deployments, AI is being introduced through governance frameworks rather than raw automation. Approval layers, exception handling, escalation paths, and auditability are becoming standard design considerations.
This isn’t a limitation - it’s a requirement.
AI that operates inside regulated, high-stakes, or customer-facing systems must coexist with compliance, security, and accountability. Vendors that understand this - and design for it - will be the ones that scale inside large organizations.
Autonomy will come over time, but governance is what enables adoption today.
